Zombie Disco Squad

(site down at post)
I think that I should move to the UK. The hottest "gay" music that I've heard in years... ever?
Check out Palmsout (freaking great music blog) for 3 FREE and LEGAL track downloads featuring my new fave dirrrty track Straight Boy.
David Carvalho
Ooops. Dead on. Nothing stifles my workload than an outdated dress code. David Carvalho. Cool Stuff
Don't forget to check out his Air Force 1 ideas. They are all over the graphic repeat / bape / getting ridiculous trend, but they still look good, and the ideas were applied intelligently.
Finally! My first car post!

I was wondering when I was finally going to get to a car post on here. And trust me much more will come soon [hello NAIAS]. Faurecia is a supplier headquartered in France. For the LA auto show in November, they showed up with a 1972 Tatra 603/2 that they stripped down to the core and redid the interior with "Premium Attitude". Check out the link at their homepage that thoroughly explains via flash, video, pictures all the relevant changes that they did to the interior. Included is information about inspiration (stilletos?), sustainability, ergonomics and more.

Reviving The Classics
These books are so cool. With all of the tech around our lives, its nice to just open up a book without having to turn something on. What is really sweet about this is the blending old and new. Classic leather bound books are great for impressing. They speak of old money, academia, and worldly endeavors. These mix such ideas with modern touches seemingly inspired by handbags such as supple thicker leathers in fantastic colors and finishes such as croco?!? to mix things up even more. Royal Disaster

Living in Cincinnati can be challenging, unless your pretty happy with monotony. Though downtown is actually on the upswing with lofts, and restaurants, have been sprouting like mushrooms. The new Fountain Square is looking good. The city recently passed a new light rail street car system to run through the urban core, and the much anticipated [riverfront black eye] Banks project on the river seems to finally be making progress.
Wow I was excited when I heard about the idea of a new skyscraper in this sleepy town. I have grown up in Cincinnati my entire life and I honestly cant remember any new skyscrapers during my lifespan (not including NKY). And taller than the gorgeous Carew Tower? WHOA!?!
Then I saw the rendering of the new Great American Insurance Tower. It all went down hill from there. It looks big, bulky and old. News of the project got even worse a few days later when it was revealed that the tower was inspired by a tiara that Princess Diana wore in a photograph from a book.
Somehow, the architect took Cincy's legacy as being the "Queen City" a bit literally. I mean come on. What does Princess Di have to do with Cincinnati? Did she even visit here ever? England? We're German! This is Zinzinnati. Secondly, that design is just plain boring. Its big, hefty and just not inviting. It screams Gotham. The architecture is such a let down after such wonderful structures such as Daniel Libeskind's Ascent opening soon across the river in Covington, or the amazing Contemporary Arts Center by Zaha Hadid that opened just a few years ago.
Welcome to the new old. This town just perplexes me.
Reality Check
Attending DAAP for five years had its ups and downs. Luckily we had our co-op program to give us a [small] dose of reality of what the real world is. Michael Mcdonough wrote his Top 10 Things That They Never Taught You in Design School which is posted at Design Observer. Now that I am done with school and realizing the drama of real life, I couldn't agree more with this guy. Took the words right out of my head.Thursday, December 20, 2007
Into outer space
This wallet is amazing, as is the entire hlaska collection. Why do I love this wallet? let me count the ways:
1) its blue
2) the "stars" are accurate and actually create constellations, showing that someone actually values the idea of concept.
3) laser etching

Taiwan has a new recycling logo. Its pretty smart and reflects the changing of modern ideas of recycling (sooo last century) to todays sustainability.

Disco Masterpiece Theatre: Sparks
This has been a favorite band of mine for years now. Sparks is a Glammy UK band that teamed up with Giorgio Moroder in 1979. Recently I discovered their videos and this song Number One Song in Heaven. Im stupid for this song, and the video totally creeps me out. It took me 3/4 of the video to realize it was the same creepy guy staring at me.
Discoworkout.com has another post including an extended version of the song and also 2 of my favorite other Sparks songs.
more creepy guy staring at you:

Zapatillas Puro

This small shoe and bag company from Argentina has been one of my faves for a few years now and I believe that they are worthy of some more attention. They have to be the most original shoe design, materials, and color schemes that I have seen ever. I particularly like the Walk silhouette that are shown above for their apollo wings. Then again, I have been a sucker for these wings a bit lately. Check out Zapatillas Puro to see more.
